Gefühlsrauschen (Emotional Resonance) is an AI-driven audiovisual installation that translates emotional states into a shared composition of sound and light. The work connects human presence with technological interpretation, asking whether inner states can be made perceptible and transformed into a collective spatial experience.
Three participants sit in a half circle, connected by brainwave sensors. Their neural activity is interpreted in real time and translated into a continuously evolving trio of piano, strings, and cello. Each participant carries a distinct voice, forming a composition shaped entirely by emotional state.
Detected emotions such as joy, tension, or melancholy directly influence the musical expression, shaping melody, harmony, and intensity. As emotional states converge, the sound settles into moments of harmony. As they diverge, it becomes unstable and textured. Subtle interpersonal dynamics, usually sensed rather than seen, are rendered perceptible in space.
At the center, a vertical light sculpture reflects these inner states. Color and intensity shift in response to each participant, creating a shared visual field of emotion.
The installation unfolds as a feedback system. Participants hear what they feel and begin to feel what they hear, forming a temporary collective presence shaped by sound, light, and interaction.
